About the painting:

|
Jason writes, "I felt a desire to go back
to Alaska so I went. Not literally, though I would go back in a
heartbeat if I could. I had to settle for going back through painting.
I have always wondered what it would be like to roam around the
wilderness for days on end and explore what is just over the next
ridge, or wade in the cool running water. This bear gets to do what
I would love to do. I used a lot of palette knife work in this painting
to get the textures and color variations of the tundra in early
autumn."

About the artist:

Born and raised in rural Minnesota, he started drawing at a young age. One of the things he enjoys most about his art is going out into nature and gathering experiences that will later be brushed onto canvas. Jason also has a love for simpler times that are long since gone; old barns, still life paintings with hand-sewn bunnies and flowers and other subjects express this longing for the past. Jason is a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists. Jason now makes his home in south central Pennsylvania, with his wife Becky and young children. Recent awards for Jason include: |
