As a painter, Ken Spirduso combines the methods of
the classical tradition with the color of impressionism. In addition
to his fine art work, he has many animated film credits with Sullivan-Bluth
Studios in Dublin, Ireland, Walt Disney Animation Studios-Florida,
and Project Firefly Animation in Orlando. Working as a layout artist,
he designed backgrounds for films such as Thumbelina, Trail Mix-up,
The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan,
John Henry, Lilo and Stitch, Brother Bear and Curious George, and
painted backgrounds for Brother Bear, My Peoples and Curious George.
Ken has created paintings for Walt Disney Imagineering,
including murals that appear in Cinderella’s Castle and a portrait
of Cinderella that hangs in the Cinderella Suite. He received a
BFA in Illustration from the University of Kansas, studied for a
summer in Great Britain, and attended Atelier Lack in Minneapolis.
Ken and his wife Caroline, have two children, Ian and Katherine
and live in Florida.
